A man named • Coulthard, aged 28, has surrendered himself to.the police at Yass, stating that in January 7th 1878, while he was a chemist at Wcston, England, ho poisioned his wife with prussic acid, weighted the body and threw it into tho Mersey. Shortly afterwards he emigrated to Australia, and he now asserts ho is wretched, and sees visions of bis wife nightly.

Arrived : Arawata, from Auckland. Melbourne, This day.

The date on which the adjournment and dissolution of the Assembly will take place is still uncertain, owing to the slow progress which is being made with the estimates.
