Yesterday.
At the Wesleyan Conference today A. C. Coughey was received as a probationer to be appointed to a circuit, and J. S. Mills, and T. J. Jone3 were received as candidates to be sent to the Wesley College. D. J. Murray was" similarly received for one year's training at the college, the year to be counted as the first of his probation. The Be*. Mr Artnitage, convener of the Committee on ministerial applications, brought up the report of the Committee, which stated that several ministers in England, Ireland and Australia applied for admission into the New Zealand Conference. The consideration of the report was deferred to a later stage of the conference, when it shall be ascertained what places require additional ministers. Colonel Scratchley arrived by special traiu this morning, and went down to harbor in a steam launch to select a site for the batteries, and then we§t to White Island in the Hinemoa-
