New Zealand Rifle Association Meeting.
NAVAL BRIGADE REPRESENTATIVE COMPETITION. The second and last of the two matches, the aggregate of which were to decide who should represent the Naval Brigade at the New Zealand Rifle Association meeting, took place to-day. The dayjwas favorable to good shooting, but not- so propitious as the day of the last competition. Nevertheless, some magnificent marksmanship was made, the carbine champion making the unequalled score of 98 but of a possible 112 points at 200, 300, 400, and 500 yards' range. Seamen Parslow and Armstrong also made capital scores. P.O. Archie Thomas missed two shots at 500 yards, through a mistake in the adjustment of his sight, and is consequently thrown out of it. It is rumored however, that the Brigade will send him down as seventh representative, being such a good, true shot that the Thames squad of picked men would scarcely be complete without him. We give the principal scores of the two, competitions. The first six men will co down :—
The Thames Scot&u Battalion will S5«uL-^iX--JQe£. giving them £7 each towards their expenses. The first competition will take place to-morrow and the last on Wednesday. The Battalion will be very strongly represented this year.
