The Presbyterian Synod last night carried the Eev. Mr McCreo's resolution of giving a welcome to Pastor Chiniquy, but in a slightly modified form, absolving the Synod from any commendation of his object of raising funds for a college in Montreal, regarding which the Synod had not sufficient definite information.
The "Will Case.
In the Supreme Court, in the case of the will of the late E. B. Calders, the jury after five minutes' deliberation awarded the issues in favor of the plaintiff's, declaring that the testator was of a sound mind necessary to the undertaking when he made his will, and that no coercion had been used.
A Good Example.
Dr Lighbourne, who was recently appointed surgeon to the Dunedin Brigade, has promised to give one hour's instruction weekly in bandaging and splintering. a knowledge of which, he.said, all Firemen ought to be possessed.
