MORMONISM RAMPANT.
{To the Editor of the Evening Star.)
. Sib, —We have heard a good deal about; Chiniquy and his apostacy from the Churnh of Home, and " the dangers to Protestantism," &c, &c—which I consider simply as the foibles of a good old man—but what about the real danger? Here we have telegrams from the South, daily of fresh converts to that disgusting semblance of a belief called Mormonism —the tenets of which are sufficiently known to. cause every well regulated mind to shudder at the deplorable want >.of self-reliance in those who have been induced to join them, and which, I trow, they'll soon discover when they leave the protecting shadow of the Union Jack. My opinion is that the authorities ought I to take cognizance of the matter, because the mischief they are doing down South may be extended up North.-—Yours truly.
Breakebs Ahead.
