Thames Land Assocition.

The adjourned meeting of persons interested in the above, was held at the Star Office last evening, Mr Wm. McCullough in the Chair.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed, after which the Chair* man read the telegram he sent to Mr Eolleston in accordance with a resolution passed at the meeting, and the reply thereto, the substance of which has already been published by us. A considerable amount of discussion ensued as to the best method to adopt to obtain a block of land.

Mr Brown proposed and Mr Stanley iflconded, "That slfpreienfc faem them*

selves into an Association for the purpose of obtaining land for settlement, to be called the Thames Land Association." Carried.

Mr Brown proposed, and Mr McGowan seconded, " Thirt each member joining the Association pay a"subscription at the rate of 5s for each 100 acres of land applied for." ♦

The following gentlemen were then electi d pro tern officers of the Association : —Chairman aud Treasurer, Mr W. McCullough; Secretary, Mr Moon; Committee--Messrs Stanley, Porter, Brown, Newman, McGowan, Ellis, Crisp, Mennie, and Boylan, with power to add to their number.

Mr Stanley proposed, and Mr Brown seconded—" 'l'hat a committee be authorised to visit the Upper Thames to gather all information possible respecting the land in the district, and report to a future meeting. Mr McGowan proposed, and Mr Stanley seconded—" That the lists of membership be closed on Saturday next, and all wishing to join the Association alter thnt date bo balloted for."

Mr McGowan proposed and' Mr Boy lan seconded—"'ihat no gentleman be considered a member unless bis subscriptions be paid by Saturday, in accordance with a previous resolution."

A meeting of the Committee was then held, and three gentlemen appointed to proceed to Ohinemuri.

A vote of thanks to the Chair terminated the proceedings.
