The Post has opened a subscription list in aid of the Irish distress. The proprietors head the list with £25, Thomson, Shannon, and Co., giving a similar amount. Other subscriptions are coming in freely. Palestine. At a public meeting held in the Jewish school room last night a committee was appointed to collect subscriptions to alleviate the prevalent distress in Jerusalem. Distress in Ireland on the Increase. The Mayor has received a telegram stating that the distress in Ireland is increasing, and aid is urgently needed. This day. The half-yearly meeting of the Workingmen's Club was held last night, when the report and balance sheet showed a satisfactory result. Colonel Scratchley inspects the whole Wellington Volunteers to-night. The ship Zealandia cleared for London this morning with a cargo valued' at £71,392.
