This Association • is promoted with the object of securing for its members freehold farms in the Waimate Plains (or some other suitable locality) on the most favorable terms and conditions, with a view of supplying to some extent the great and increasing demand for small holdings for boxa ,/bfo settlement. As soon as the block is decided jipon, and the' | preliminaries arranged, it will be surveyed into sections of limited area and apportioned, | by lot or otherwise, according to rules to be agreed upon at a general meeting of the subscribing members of the proposed Association in selections of a minimum value of One Hundred Pounds (£100) sterling, and a maximum value of (£400) sterling. The Provisional Directors will endeavor to induce tbe Government to grant to members I of the Association suoh modifications of the land on dtferred-pajment clauses of the Land Act, 1877, as may facilitate occupation by bona Jide settlers and subscribers without necessitating striot compliance with the present provisions of those clauses. The Pro* visional Directors will also endeavor to make provision for ample reserves for religious, educational, recreation, and. public health purposes, as suggested by the Minister of Lands to the deputation which lately waited upon the Government with the view of bringing this scheme under their notice and favorable consideration. The payments are to be computed on some wel-defined, liberal, and easily-understood system of deferred payments, to be made by instalments extending over a period of, say not lees than ten (10) years. Each subscrib* ing member will be required to deposit a sum equal to ten percentum of tbe total value of the share of land he applies for 'before his application can be entertained, tad a further payment of two peroentum per month on said total value until such time as tbe block to be applied for is acquired by the Association, and possession can be given to applicants, or until such time as the Association shall make arrangements with the Government lor allotting land to the subscribers, provided always that snob monthly payment* of two i eroenium do not extend to a farther period than six months from date of application. All monies received are to be paid into tbe Colonial Bank of Mew Zealand to the Association's aobount, to be opened in the name of the Trustees, on fixed deposit bearing interest, and no withdrawals or payments to be made by cheque against suoh account without the authority and signature of the Treasurer, one of the Trustees, and three Directors being first obtained. Agents; or Acting-Directors, for the Asso* ! ciation will also be appointed in all the centres of population throughout the provin*l oial district as soon as practicable. j As soon as, in tbe opinion of the Provi- I sional Directory, a sufficient number of shares are applied for, a general meeting of subscribing members will be called for the purpose of passing and adopting permanent rules j and by-laws or article? of Association for tbe future guidance of the Association, and also ! ! for the election of a permanent Board of Directors aud Management. 1 If the Provisional Directors are unable to , make satisfactory arrangements with tbe, Government, or from any other cause they i find that they are unable to carry out the , scheme suggested by this prospectus, they . may return to each, subscriber the amou&t of I his subscription with accrued interest, lees ! his share of the expenses or liabilities then | inourred. » • * As it is of the utmost importance and imperatively necessary that no time should be lost in organising the business of the Association, the Provisional Direotory therefore stipulate that- the list of subscribing members should be finally closed not later than the 31st January, 1880. Terms of . proposal and application for shares and other information connected with the Association may be procured . from the Provisional Directors, the Secretary pro tern, or at the Wellington Working Men's Club, Lambton Quay.
