This Association is promoted with the object of securing for its members freehold farms in the Waimate Plains (or some other suitable locality), on the most faro-able terms and conditions, with a view of supplying to some extent the giieat and increasing demand for small holdings for hona fide settlement. As soen. as the block is decided upon, and the preliminaries arranged, it *will be surveyed into tectionsof limited area .and apportioned, by lot or otherwise, according 10 rues to be agreed upon at a general meeting of the bud* scribing members of the proposed Association in selections of a minimum ralue of One Hundred Pounds (£100) eterling, and » maximum value of (£400) sterling. . The Provisional Directors will endeavor to induce the Government to grant to members of the Association such modifications of the land on d»ferred-pajment clauses of the Land Act, 1&77, as may facilitate occupation by hona fide settlers and subscribers without necestitaiing strict compliance with the present provisions of those clauses. The Provisional Directors will also endeavor to make provision for ample r. sferves for religious, educational, recreation, . and public health purposes., as "suggested by the Minister of Lauds to the deputation which lately waited upon the Government with the view of bringing this scheme under their notice and favorable consideration. The payments are to be computed on some wel-dt-fined, liberal, and easily-urderstood system of deferred payments, to be made by instalments extending over a period of, say not lesß than ten (10) years. Each subscribing member wi 1 be required to deposit a sum equ»l to ten percentum of the total value of the share of land he applies for before his application can be entertained, and * further payment of two percentum per month on said total value until such time as the block to be applied for is acquired by the Association, and possession can be given to applicants, or until such time as the Association shall make arrangements with the Government tor allotting land to the subscribers, provided always that such monthly payments of two jercenium do not extend to a further period than six months from date of application. All monies received are to be paid into the Colonial Bank of JNew Zealand to the Association's account, to be opened in-the name of the Trustees, on* fixed deposit bearing interest, and no withdrawals or payments to be made by cheque agaiust such account without the authority and signature of the Treasurer, one of the Trustees, and three Directors being first obtained. Agents, or Acting-Directors, for the Association wi>l also be appointed in all the centres of population throughout the provincial district as soon aa practicable. As soon as, in ttw opinion of the" Provisional Directory, a auffisient number of shares are applied for, a g neral meeting of subscribing members will be called for the j^urpoee of passing and adopting permanent rules and bylaws or articles of Association for the future guidance of the Association, and also for the election of a permanent Board of .Directors and Management. If the Provisional Directors are unable to make satisfactory arrangements with the Government, or from any other cause they find that they aro unable to carry out the scheme suggested by this prospectus, they may return to each subscriber the amount of hiß subscription viitb accrued interest, less his share of MlO expenses or liabilities then incurred.. As it is of the utmost importance and imperatively necessary that no time should be lost in organising the business of the Association, the Provisional Directory therefore stipulate that the list of subscribing a embers shouid- be finally closed not later than the Slit January, 1830.
