DUNEDIN.

A deputation waited upon Mr Oliver, the Minister of Public Works, to-day to suggest the issue of annual railway passes available over the Middle Island railways at the rate of £50 each.

Mr Oliver said he would consider the suggestion, but did not feel very favorably inclined towards it, as the facilities for railway travelling were as great as could be expected, there was also a possibility that the revenue might suffer.

Jas. Taylor, a highly respectable and an old resident of Cromwell, committed suicide last night.
