The telegraph operators had a dinner last night to celebrate the termination of the strike. During the proceedings it was stated that the Department will in future practically allow the resumption of the old hours. This day. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Co. have received the following telegram from London, under date the 6th inst.:— Wool market is firm. There has been little private enquiry, and there is a fair trade. The demand for tallow stocks of all sorts are 17,000 casks best mutton worth 39s per cwt. Wheat Market. Adelaide 60s, and New Zealand 50s, per 4,961b5. Leather—The market is firm; beat sides are worth Is Id.
