This Association is promoted with the object of securing for its members freehold farms in the Wttiaiate Plains (or* some other < suitable locality) on the most favorable terms and conditions, with a view of supplying to some extent the great and increasing demand for small holdings for bona fide settlement. As soon as the block is decided upon, and the preliminaries arranged, it will be surveyed - into sections of limited area and apportioned, by lot or otherwise, according to rules to be agreed upon at a general meeting of the subscribing members of the proposed Association in selections of a minimum value of One Hundred Pounds (£100) sterling, and a maximum value of (£400) sterling. The Provisional Directors will endeavor to induce the Government to grant to members of the Association such modifications of the land on deferred-pajment clauses of the Land Act, 1677, as may facilitate occupation by bona fide.. settler*i and subscribers without necessitating strict compliance with the present provisions of those clauses. The Provisional Directors will also endeavor to make provision for ample reserves for religious, educational, recreation, and public health purposes, as suggested by the Minister of Lands to the deputation which lately waited ■ upon the Government with the view of bringing this scheme under their notice and. favorable consideration. ' The payments are to be computed on some well-defined, liberal, and easily-understood system of deferred payments, to be made by instalments extending over a period of, say not less than ten (10) years. Each subscribing member will be required to deposit a sum equbl to ten percentum of the total value of the share of land he applies for before hit application can be entertained, and a further payment of two percentum .per month on said total value untifsuch time as the block - to be applied for is acquired by the Association, and possession can be given to applicants, or until such time as the Association shall make arrangements with the Government for allotting land to the. subscribers, provided always that such monthly payments of two f-ercentum do not extend to a further period than six months from date of application.
