Logav, Esq.,* Thomas M'Kbnzik, Esq. „ Secretary:* Mr William Wylib., .«*\ This Association is promoted with the object of securing for its members freehold farms in the Waimate Plains (or some other suitable locality) on the most favorable terms and conditions, with a view of supplying- to, some extent the great and increasing demand for small holdings for bona fide settlement. As soon as the block is xdecided upon, and the preliminaries arranged, it will be surveyed into sections of limited area and apportioned, by lot or otherwise, according to rules to be agreed upon at a general meeting of the sub* scribing members of tbe proposed Association in selections of a minimum!'-value of One Hundred Pounds (£100) sterling, and a maximum valufe of (£400) sterling.The Provisional Directors will endeavor to induce the Government to grant to members of the Association'such modifications .of this / land on: deferred-payment, clauses of the Land Act, 1877, as may facilitate occupation by bona fide settlers and subscribers without > necessitating strict compliance with the present provisions of. those clauses. The' Pro* - visional Directors will also endeavor to .make provision for' ample > reserves for religious, educational, recreation, and public health' purposes, as suggested by tbe Minister of. •■ Lands to the deputation which lately waited upon the Government with the view of bringing this ,scbeme under their notice and * favorable consideration. The payments are to be computed on some , well-defined, liberal, and easily-understood system of deferred payments, to be mide by instalments extending over a period of, say, not less than ten (10) years., Each subscribing member will be required to depot* a sum equal to ten percentum of the total value of the share of land he.applies for before his , application can be entertained,'and a=, further payment of two percentum'per month on said total value until such time as the block to be applied for is acquired by the Association, and possession can be given to appli- v cants, or until such time as the Associaiion shall flptke arrangements with, the Govern* . ment for allotting land to the subscribers, provided always that such?montbly payments of two ).ercentum do not extend to a farther period thaq^ix months from date of application, ''''" . ■■* All monies received are to be paid into the Colonial Bank of Kew Zealand to the Aho* ciation's acooant, to be opened in the flute of the Trustees, on fixed deposit, bearing interest, and no withdrawals or payments to be made by cheque'against such acoount without the authority and signature of th* Treasurer, one of the TrustSsfc and three Directors being first obtained. *: ; Agents, or Acting-Directors, fos the Association will also bMBi appointed in all the centres of population 1 throughout the provin- f c>al district as soon as practicable. ' As it is of the utmost importance and imperatively necessary that no time should b» lost in organising tbe business of tbe Association, the Provisional Directory therefore stipulate that the list of subscribing mem* bers should be finally closed not later than the 31st January, 1880.
