Land Tax Defaulters.
The Government are issuing sdmmonseii against the Land Tax defaulter!. Sir William Manning, senior Judge of New South Wales, arrived by the Zealandia, and intends to make a tour of this colony. The Bknk of New Zealand ihipped £20,0C0 worth of gold to Sydney yesterday.
- Colonel Scr'alchley, who arrived from Sydney yesterday, goes South in the .Ringarooma to-morrow, and by the request of the Government will inspect the Lyttelton and Dunedin Harbors for purposes of defence, and will then return to Auckland.- ,
Mr Buckland sold about one hundred bales of wj>ol today. Wool in grease was firm, ;ana fetched from 6£d to Bjd ; washed was firm at from 9£-d to lid.
Sir George Grey wiil deliver an inaugural address at the opening of the Grammar School building.
At the Supreme Court the case of Sheridan C. Hall, charged with forging a telegram with intent to defraud is proceeding.
