A new Dictator for Peru.
Advices from Peru state the President of the Ecpublio, General Prado, has fled in consequence of the difficulty of prosecuting the war with, Chili and Bolivia, and because of the insecurity of his position. It has been ascertained that the conduct of the. Turkish Ministry in regard to the representations of the British Government arose through the jealousy of Sir Henry Layard's influence with the Sultan. The Ministry persisted in evading the demands of the British Ambassador, and the latter was compelled to take a decided stand. ■ The Home Government has expressed regret at the incident, but supports Sir Henry Layard, to whom it has given carte blanche to deal with the Forte according to. his judgement. The Liberal party at Home generally approve of the action of the Government in the matter. It is expected that compromise will be effected, and that England will not have. to proceed to hostilities. The German and Austrian Ambassadors have both intervened, and recommended the Porte to arrange the matter. The Latest.
