This Association is promoted with tke object of securing for its members freehold farms in the Waimate Plains (or some other suitable locality) on the most favorable terms and conditions, with a view of supplying to some extent the great and increasing demand for small holdings for bona fide settlement. As soen as the block isl decided upon, and the. preliminaries arranged, it will be surveyed into sections of limited area and apportioned! by lot or otherwise, according to rules to be ,' agreed upon at a general meeting of the subscribing members of the proposed Association in selections of a minimum value o| One - Hundred Pounds (£100) sterling, and a maximum value of (£400) sterling. The Provisional Directors will endeavor to induce the Government to grant to ■embers - of the Association such modifications of the ' land on deferred-payment clauses of the Land Act, 1877* as may facilitate occupation by bona fide settlers and subscribers witboat necessitating strict compliance with the present provisions of those clauses. The Pro*, visional Directors will also endeavor to make ■ provision for ample reserves for religion*,-: educational, recreation, and public health purposes, as suggested by the Minister of Lands to the deputation which lately waited ! upon the Government with the view of ! bringing this scheme under th«ir notice and favorable consideration. The payments are to be competed on some well-defined, liberal, and easily-understood | system of deferred payments, to be made by ■'■ : instalments extending over a period of; say , i not less than ten (10) years.
