ALBURNIA.
The mine was visited to-day. At the 160 feet level it was found that driving at both ends is being pushed on with vigor. la the western end there is a nice-looking body of stone 18 inches thick showing occasionally a few colors of gojd. The face of this drive is perhaps 80 or 90 feet from the Whau boundary. At the 70 feet level, western face, a shot fired this morning blew a hole through to
where the Whau workings are. The reef in the face here is not particularly attractive. In the stopes there is not near the amount of gold showing as at the time of my last visit. The reef here still maintains a good size, and picked stone is obtained from several portions. The monager has just started sinking a winze from the floor of the reef, a short distance from the face. This winze, being sunk on a shot of gold, colors of the precious metal are seen. The other winze on the lode is making good headway, being down 40 or 50 feet. The manager has at present 8 or 9cwt of picked and specimen stone on hand.
