J» ~~~~" This Association is promoted with the object of securing for its members freehold farms in" the Waimate Plains (or some other suitable locality) on the most favorable tenu and conditions, with a view of supplying to some extent the great and increasing demand forj. small holdings for bona fide settlement. ' As sodnaj the block is decided upon, and the preliminaries arranged, it will be surveyed into sections of limited area and apportioned, by lot or otherwise, according to rules to be agreed upon at a general meeting of the sub* scribing members of the proposed Association in selections of a minimum value of One Hundred Pounds (£100) sterling, and a maximum value of (£400) sterling. The Provisional Directors will endeavor to induoe the Government to grant to members of the Association such modifications of the . land on drferred>p.a;ment clauses of the Land Act, 1877, as may facilitate occupation by bona fide settlers and subscribers without necessitating strict compliance with the present provisions of those clauses. The. Provisional Directors will also endeavor to sake provision for ample reserves for religious, ■ educational, recreation, and public health ■ purposes, as suggested by the Minister of Lands to the. deputation which lately waited upon the Government with the view of .. bringing this scheme under their notice and favorable consideration. '" " - HChe payments are to be computed on some well-defined, liberal, and easily-understood system of deferred payments, to be made by instalments extending, ovet, a period of,-say not less than ten- (10). years.
