This Association is promoted with the object *of securing for its members freehold (arms in the*Waimate Plaint (or some other -suitable locality) on the most favorable terms and conditions, with a view of suppling: to some extent the great and lncrcasinfljaemand lor small holdings for bona fifa ajpiNßtnt. As soen as the block is decided upon, and the preliminaries arranged, it will be surveyed into sections of limited area and apportioned, by lot or otherwise, according to rules to be agreed upon at a general'meeting of the sub» scribing members of theproposed Association ' in selections of a minimum, value of One' Hundred Pounds (£100) sterling, and a maximum value of (£400) sterling. Ihe Provisional Directors will endeavorjo 'induce the Government to grant to members of the Association such modifications of the land on deferred-payment clauses of the _ Land Act, 1877, as may, facilitate occupation by tiona fi&e settlers and subscribers without necessitating strict compliance with the present provisions of those clauses. The Fro* visional Directors will also endeavor to make provision for ample reserves for religion*, educational, recreation,. and public health . purposes, as suggested, by the Minister of Lands to the. deputation which lately waited upon the Government with the view of, bringing this scheme under their notice and favorable consideration. The payments are to be computed on some • well-defined, liberal, and easily-understood . system of deferred payments, to be made by instalments extending orvt a period of, say not less than ten (10) years. Each subeorib- ' ing member will be required to deposit a ram equal to ten percentum of the total value of - the "share of land he applies for before bit application can be entertained, and, a further payment of two percentum per month on laid total value until such time a* thai black - to be applied for is acquired by the Aesoeia* tion, and possession can be given to applicants, or until such.time as the Assodacidn ' shall make' arrangements with the Govern* ment for allotting land to the subscriber!, provided always that-such monthly payments of two percentum do not extend to a farther period than six months from date ef application.
