ORANGE AND GREEN.
(To ths Editor of ths Evening Star.) Sib,—ln scanning the eoluans of yonr valuable journal on Saturday night, I was thunderstruck at reading about the riots between the Orangemen and Catholics of Christchurch and Titnaru. I believe from the full report given in your journal . that my co-religionists were the cause of the disturbance by unwarrantably assaulting a peaceable procession; but, I think, sir, these Orange processions - should not Le allowed. Yon know the wild, ungovernable temper of my countrymen and co-religionists on all occasions, and especially when an ; insult is offered to their faith or to theiuwitonal .pride. Now, sir. these processiorMfcth Orange colons flying, are like hJWng out a red rag to a wild bull, and st'fr up the bad
part of the nature of a son of Erin. Let us, sir, leare our differences in tha dear old sod, and let hot the good name of this country be defaced by the unseemly broils of religious partizanship.,' Ther» will soon be a gentleman named Chiniquy here, and as lorcr of peace, I feu hi* adrent will not improre matters at all, bat I must trust to the good sense of my brother Catholics of the Colony to ' prerent disturbances—l am, &c, ■ -.
