Wb bare received the sth annual report _of the Victoria Humane Society. The institution is (established on the same principles as the lioyal Humane Society was found in 1874. Its specified objects are the saving of live, and rewarding promptness and bravery in the effort to do so, and the restoration of the apparently drowned or dead, togothor with the collection of information regarding the most approved methods to be used for such purpose. The report before us shows the total receipts for year ending June 30th 1879, to hate been £739 11s lid, and the expenditure £101 15s 7d less. The income of the society is mainly derived from subscriptions subsidised by a small Government grant. The report gives the rules of the society, list of the recipients to medals and other rewards, instructions for reanimation of those apparently drowned, and other interesting information.
