CARTERTON.
This day.
T. Gold, County Clerk and Treasurer, tried to committ suicide by cutting his throat at the Marquis of Normanby's Hotel.' It is not yet known what instrument he «sed, but it is supposed to be a bayonet. He is fearfully cut, though his wounds are not fatal, and is expected to recover. The man has been a Good Templar for some months, but violated his obligations a few days since.
