General Roberts taken up fresh

There was continuous fighting oa the fourteenth confirming fully thd statement that the Afghans were numerically superior and made a desperate attack on the heights south of the position occupied by the British troops.
On the thirteenth General Roberts consequently decided to abandon the heights, concentrating on the cantonments on the north of Cabul. Reinforcements. Orders were given to Generals Gough and Arbuthnot to bring up reinforcements from Gandamak snd Jellallabad.
