Sale of Privileges of Thames Annual Races.
Messrs B. B. McGregor and Co., offered for sale at 11 o'clock to-day the priviliges of the Thames Annual Races, to be held at Parawai on the 26th and 27th insts. There vast good attendance, and for most of the "rights" there was quite a spirited competition. The gates were purchased by Mr J. Hoiles for £83. The auctioneer announced that the tariff would be:—men Is, women 6d, and children under 12 free, saddle horses 2s 6d, buggies and spring carts 2s 6d, cabs and carriages ss. The other privileges were disposed of as follows:—Publicans' booth No. 1, £23, Mr A. Dunn; ditto No. 2, £25, Mr A. Dunn; Good Templars' booth, £13, Mr Driscoll; refreshment booth No. 1 £9, Mr J. C. Williams; ditto No. 2,;£6, Mrs Rogatf; shooting gallery £1 10s, Mr Barlow; right of cards £3 ss, Signor Robert Clementson; grand stand, £18 10s, Mr A. Butler. Total, (with gates) £182 ss. These prices are exceedingly good, and may enable the stewards to increase the value of the prizes.
