Thi« Association is promoted with the object of securing for its members freehold farms in the Waimate Plains (or some other ■nitabie locality) on the most favorable, terms and conditions, with a view of supplying to tome extent the great and increasing demand for small holdings for bona fide settlement. As BOBH as the block is decided upon, and the preliminaries arranged, it ■will be aurreyed into sections of limited avea and apportioned, ij lot or otherwise, according to rues to be "•greed upon at a general meeting of the subscribing members of the proposed Association in selections of a minimum Talus of One Hundred Pounds (£100) sterling, and a maximum value of (£400) sterling. The Provisional Directors will endeavor to induce the Government to grant to members of the Association such modifications of the land on deferred-payment clauses of the Xand Act; 1877, as may facilitate occupation by dona fide settlers and subscribers without necessitaiing strict compliance with the present/ provisions of those clauses. The Pro■visional Directors will also endeavor tomake provision for ample reserves for religious, educational, recreation,, and public health purposes, as suggested by the Minister of Lands to the deputation which lately waited upon the Government with the view of bringing this scheme under their notice and favorable consideration. Ths payments are to be computed on some "'"' well-defined, liberal, and easily-understood system of deferred payments, to be made by instalments extending over a period of, cay 'Mlt iMs than t«n (10) years. Each subscribing member will be required to deposit a sum equal to ten percentum of tbe total value of the share of land be applies for before his application can be entertained, and a further payment of two percentuin per month on ■aid total value until such time as the block - to bei applied for ib acquired by the Association, and possession can be given to applicants, or until such time as the Association ■hall make arrangements with the Government for allotting land to the subscribers, provided always that such monthly payments of two percentum do not extend to a further period than six months from date of application. . . , ' All monies received are to be paid into the Colonial Bank of Hew Zealand to the Association's account, to be opened in the name of the Trustees, on fixed deposit bearing ' interest, and no withdrawals or payments to be made by cheque against such account without the authority and signature of the Treasurer, one of the Trustees, and three Directors being first obtained. .Agents, or Actfng-Directore, for the Association will also be appointed in all the centres of population throughout the provincial district as soon, as practicable. As soon as, in the opinion of the Provisional Directory, a sufficient number of shares are applied for, a general meeting of subi ■cribing members will be called for the pur- ' pole of passing and adopting permanent rules and by-laws or article? of Association for the future guidance of the Association, and also for the election of a permanent Board of Directors and Management. As it is of the utmost importance and imperatively necesßaty that no time should be lost in organising the business of the Association, the Provisional Directory therefore itipulate that the list of subscribing members should be finally closed not later than the 31st January, 1880. Terms of proposal and application for shares and other information connected with the Association may be procured from the Provisional Directors, the Secretary pro tern, or at the Wellington Working Men's Club, liarobton Quay.
