OAMARU.
Last night. _ A sad drowning accident occurred this morning to Miss Gordon and Mr Herniank, both teachers in the Makino School. They were on their way to the school this morning in a dray driven by a man named Davis. When crossing the Kananui rirer, just below the homestead of Mr Elder, the dray got swept into a hole in the rirer and capsized. Darie swam ashore, but Miss Gordon and Hermank were drowned.
