The Carandinis.
A good attendance welcomed the Carandini Operatic Company last night at the Academy of Music. Several times during the gvening bursts of applause greeted the singers, and at the first appearance of Madame and Miss Caraudini a hearty reception was accorded. Time seems to have dealt very lightly - with the elder lady, since her last appearance on the Thames; and her youthful daughter appears to be a worthy representative of her alder sisters, Misses Rosina and Fanny. Mr Sherwin appeared <as of old, and Mr Gordon Gooch'a staging showed that time and the study of the art improve the Tocal powers. The programme com* menced with a piano duet by Miss Marie C«randini and Mist. Deakin, in which both ladies showed an iatimate knowledge of the instrument and an appreciation of the authors' music. Miss Deakra played several accompaniments during the evening with taste and feeling. Miss) Carandini's song, I "It was a dream," was sweetly rendered, and elicited an encore, and the duet with Madame, " Trust her not, she is fooling thee," which was such a favorite in the hands of Misses Fanny and Bosina, wa» very pleasingly rendered. One young gentlemen in the front seats was especially favored- with the side glaces of the younger lady. "Se il rigor," by Mr Gooch, was his best piece in the programme, and was encored. In the second part Miss Carandini sang, "I cannot mind my wheel, mother " very feelingly, and "Carissima" equally well. The quartettes were well given, and Madame Carandini as usual excelled in the ballad, "Jessie, the flower of. Dunblane." An entire change of programme takes place to-night, and as Saturday night closes the performances of the company, we advise all who wish s musical treat to attend this evening.
