The ushji! meeting of the Council m held this afternoon. Present—Crs Brown (in the Chair), Tuorburn, Bagnall, Porter, Deeble, Coutts and Greenville. JDeeble, £2 19s Id ; rent, £4 6s Bd. Travelling expenses—Cr Carpenter, £1 13s ; Or Deeble, £1 Is ; Cr Tuorbufn, $ £8 Bs. Printing and advertising—-Wm. Wilkinson, £8 6s; H. Brett, £1 5«. Commission, S. C. Mackay, £12; informer, \V. Allen, £10,- total, £1026 13«. On the 26th November. —Examined by Board of Works, £183 3s lOd; Water Race Committee, £7 6s 7d; stationary, J, Nodder, £1 12a 8d ; miscellaneous works: rifle range, £2 10s ; commmission: collector, £13 os 3d; total, £207 18* Id. SURVEYOtt's BKPOBT. The surveyor reported (hat but few men had been employed during the month. The contracts for formation on Hastings and Murcury Bay roads are com* plcted, and the culverts nearly so. The contract on the Thames-Hastings -road had not been done according to specifications, and the contractor was now rectifying the defects. The Una road contractors were making no attempts to complete their contract though the time expired three weeks' ago The small Te Papa contracts were comple* ted, but the large contract had not been pissed, being scarcely up to specification!*. Some portions of Puke Paeroa road were in a bad condition, but an expenditure of £10 ; would .make it passable during summer. £25 was required to make the Qhtnemurt Te Aroha road passable.' No tenders for Rotokohu and Paeroa-Komata road had been accepted, as there was no certainty that the natives would allow the work to
