A meeting of tho creditors of Henry Clarence Hoyle, of Tauranga, has been hold, tiie liabilities amounting to £575, assets £430 ; also of James Harris, auctioneer, liabilities £780, assets £1318; also of W. J. Suiter, brewer, liabilities £6,000, assets £5,000. Advance price of 'Wool. At Buck land's wool sales to-day, all sold but 12 bales, prices Id per pound higher than last sale. Captain Logan, of s.s. Hero, who has landed cattle on Auckland wharf for eleven years without a written permit, was prosecuted to-day for so doing, aud was fined ]s and £2 10s cost*. The public are subscribing the fine in shilling donations. Brown through the Attorney General withdrawing from prosecution, was dismissed. Mr Brown has been a guest of the Governor nt Government House; but on Chief Justice Gorrie returning to Levuka from his Windward tour, Mr Brown received a summons. The Governor was very angry and said he would tvy the case. The Chief Justice also claimed the right to do so, and it is stated a quarrel ensued, subsequently Mr Brown was summoned to Narsover, where the Governor held a kind of Court. He read to Air Browu a minuta in which he declared he whs unablo to carry out the instructions he had received from the Secretary of State in consequence of Justice Gorrie's action. He stated that from a careful consideration of all the evidence laid before him, including Mr Brown's letters aud ihe reports of H.M.S. Beagle, and Sandfly, the German warship -•• riadne, ns well as a report from Capt. Put-yes, H.M.S. Dattae, and a ma»s of di positions recently taken in New Britain, he felt bound to state that in his opinion there was do ground for any criminal proceedings.
