In the Court of Appeal to-day judgment was given in the celebrated Gleich ease in which the South Australian assignee sought to attach for the benefit of the South Australian creditors nil the monies and properly found in Gleich's possession hero. The Court upheld the rights of New Zealand creditors orer claims of Assignee. Tha other side threaten appeal. At the Licensing Court to day all the applications for new licenses were refused, the Bench absolutely declining to hear any evidence on behalf of the applicants. A. Good Suggestion. At the annual meeting of 1 the Reform Association last night, notice of motion was given re the desirability of a conference of delegates at Wellington to establish a lteform Association on a common platform. An official enquiry into the accident of tbe steamer Tui on Sunday week, was held to-day. The court found that the vessel grounded through the want of proper Judgment, having been exercised by the master, particularly on his having left his post on the bridge at the time when he could not see the light, and had nothing whatever to guide him, merely to set the foresail which was of no earthly use under the circumstances. After observing that the vessel must have gone five or six points out of her course, the court ordered, the captain's certificate to be suspended for three months, and adjudged him to to pay costs. The Government will introduce a clause into the property Assessment Bill, to prevent the capital of investment companies being taxed twice, which as the Otugo Times pointed out would be the effect if the bill passes as it stands.
