This Association is promoted with the object of securing for its members freehold farms in the Waimate Plains (or some' other suitable locality) on the most favorable terms and conditions, with a view of supplying to ' some extent the great and increasing demand' for small holdings for lona fide settlement. As soen as the block is decided upon, and the preliminaries arranged, it will be surveyed into sections of limited area and apportioned, bj lot or otherwise, according to rules to bo agreed upon at a general meeting of the subscribing members of the proposed Association in selections of a minimum value of One Hundred Pounds (£100) sterling, «nd a maximum Talue of (£400) sterling. . ■ The Provisional Directors trill endeavor to induce the Government to grant to members of the Association such modifications of the land on deferred-payment clause* of. the Land Act, 1877, as may facilitate oceupaiioq by hona fide settlers and subscribers without necessitating strict compliance with the prosent provisions of those clauses. The Provisional Directors will also endeavor to make provision for ample ri serves for religious, educational, recreation, and public health purposes, as suggested by the Minister of Lands to the deputation which lately waited upon tho Government with the view of bringing this scheme under their, notice "»nd favorable consideration. . . - - The payments are to bo computed on lome well-defined, liberal^ and easUf-understood system of deferred payments, to be madeiby instalments extending over a period of, say not less than ten (10) years. Kacb. subscribing member will be required to deposit ft sum equal to ten percentum of the" total value of the share of land he applies for before his application can be entertained, and a further, payment of two percentum - per month on said total value until such time as the block to be applied for is acquired by^ the Association, and possession can be given to applicants, or until such time as the Association shall make arrangements with the Government for allotting land to the subscribers, provided always that such monthly payments of two percentum do not extend to a further period than six months from date of application. All monies received are to be paid into the Colonial Bank of New Zealand to the Association's account, to be opened in the name of the Trustees, on fixed deposit bearing interest, and no withdrawals or payments to be made by cheque against such account without the authority and signature of the •Treasurer, one of the Trustees, and three Directors being first obtained. 4 gents, or Acting-Directors, for the Association will nlso be appointed in all the .centres of population throughout the prorin■ciul district ne soon as practicable.
