BILLS BSAD
The Marlborough Rivers Union Bill, and the Southern Native District School Bill, were read a first time.
The Waitatara Harbor Bill and the Registration of Electors Bill were read a second time.
The Ohristchurcli Drill Shed -Bill, and the Qualification of Electors Bill were read a third time. ■
The bon Mr Wilson morcd the recommital of the lash bill, so as to get v the clause altered for Maori holders in common of land to be allowed to vote ; but after a debate this proposal was rejected. .Replying to the Hon Mr Miller. The Hon Mr Whitaker said that the free emigration agents now employed in Great Britain were, Holloway at £150 a year, G. M. Eeid at £GOO, Claydcn at £250, Batbgate £550, Rev J. Berry at £300, but the arrangements .with the last one has just ended. This was all the business done in the Council, which adjourned at 5 till 7.30.
