Rifle Match.
The match, Scotch Team versus Outsiders, came off yesterday afternoon and resulted 1 in another victory to the Scotch by ninety points. Mr Symington made it a condition that two small bores should be made in his team, Messrs Price and Walker. This was agreed to, and but for an accident to the small bore, when the mateh c was only one-third gone it would have proved a hard fight for the Scotch. The weather too, was very much against the outsiders—blowing a perfect gale from the left, and rendering fine shooting a matter almost of impossibility. The following are the scores in either tenm :—
Mr Symington captained the outsiders, and Mr Peter Johnston the Scotch team. Mesirs Finlay and Willis aoted as scoretakers and District Marker Potts superintended the marking. The whole passed off well, and a large number of the general public were overlooker^ and appeared to take considerable interest in the match. At the conclusion cheers were given for both teams. The match was for 50 rounds of Snider ammunition per man.
