It is understood the Property Tax Bills to be ready this overling will consist of two bills and the Property Pax Bills (P). Two blank forras will bti issued to every householder, one relating to land and the other to personal property ; the former is to bo filled in and dealt with in the same way as the present Land Tax, which same tnx is doubled, besides other property being taxed as well. The second blank form will have to be filled in with the estimate of the value of all his worldly possessions, of every description, of all debts due to, and of all debts owed by him. This statement, supported by a statutory declaration, is to be forwded to a court of three commissioners, sworn to secrecy. The court will deduct from the estimate all debts owed by the person, and £300 exemption, the balance remaining as taxable property on which a penny in the £ will be levied. If tho Commissioners disbelieve tho statement made, they can call upon the property holder to support it by the evidence of a valuer appointed by himself. Criminal proceedings are to be taken in case of fraud.

In the Court of Appeal, Arthur D. Nation was struck off tho roll at the instance of the Otago District Law Society.

In the case Regina v. Reid, in which prisoner was the paid manager of the Colonial Building Society of Dunedin, several law points were reserved by Willinms. The Court, however, held the conviction good on all counts but two.
