VIRST AND SECOND BEADING
The following bills were read for the first time:— Protection of Animals A^t Amendment Bill, Tiraaru Waterworks Bill, Hamilton Volunteer Hall Site Bill. Tlw Christchurch Drill Shed Bill waa read a second time, after a rather long discussion of the Volunteer question.
OVKn VALUATION.
He Mr Waterhoose's motion for better facilities to appeal against over Taluation of taxed property, there was along debate during which many acts of tmjustice under th" Land Tax Act were mentioned.
Mr Whitaker accepted tho motion, and mentioned that the Government would do its utmost to make the new taxes be felt as easily as possible. The motion was

A great part of the sitting was occupied iv Committee on Mr Small's Bills. The Council adjourned at 5 p.m.
