ALRURNIA.

Interim retortings for this mine took place at the Herald mill yesterday and to-day'for the total yield of 1090ozs gold. 4280z3 was banked to-day, and the balance last night. The crushing continues to shape well. The mine was risked to-day. Before going below oar rt-porter was shown by the manager some stone obtained by last night's shift—some 3cwt in all. The stone was rich, and some pieces showed a well defined band of gold, one mcli thick running right through it. On going below, it was found that in the face there was but little change. The foot-wall branch seems to maintain about the same relative position with the main body as when, first reported. Tho band of mullock between the two lodes is full of quartz stringers, and is all crushing dirt. Gold was showing in both banging and foot-wall sections. In the stopes, all through there is a first-class show, much better than on the occasion of the last visit at the end of last week, liuby silver, and the other concomitants of the precious metal, are plentifully visible. The slope, as it goes up, is getting very wide, and iv the higher portion the foot-wall lode has been left inside the wail. Upwards and eastwards this body of quartz' evidently goes off from the main lode. - It is very possible that the the lodes junction downwards, below the 70-feet level. In the eastern drive a little gold is seen occasionally. The directors are thinking of bringing a waterrace round to their own battery and crushing the quartz on the claim.
