This day.
The following resolutions were arrived at by a special committee of the Chamber of Commerco:—lst. That for the purposes of revenue a property tax should be imposed and the present tariff interfered with as little as possible. 2nd. Should the imposition of a property tax not meet the financial requirements of the Government the required amount should be made up from the following:—Tea, sugar, tobacco, cigars, beer, (Excise duty), matches, wine and all goods on which ad valorem duties are now levied ; grain as previously.
