THE Evening Star. Resurrexi. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 1879.
It will be seen in our Wellington own correspondent's dispatch that the Government will probably suggest tho increase of the number of members of the House by ten in preference to disturbing existing districts at present. The population and importance of this electoral district certainly entitles it to additional representation, and we hope our members will be " around."
Gbeat interest is felt in the Internaiional Rifle match to be fired to-morrow afternoon at the Government range. 'J he teams are considered pretty erenly matched, though some knowing ones fancy the Scotch and Colonial teams hare the best show. Shonld the afternoon prove fine we hare no doubt but that there will be a large attendance on the range.
The arrangements for the Flower Show on Wednesday next are proceeding satisfactorily. The Thames Scottish Band hate given their services gratuitously for the occasion.
Wn notice by advertisement that Mr J. 11. Walsh lias taken over Mr W. Bobbelf's Hollas lon street butchery business. Mr Walsh is well known on the Thames, and will, no doubt, give tho same satisfaction to his customers as the former proprietor of tho business has done for so ninny years. The ship Waikato, with 250 imnrgrants, arrived at Auckland last night from London, after a passage of 98 days. One birth and one death occurred. Nothing further of importance transpired during the passage. September 4th (lat. 555 north, longitude 19 52 west), sighted an emigrant ship, supposed to be tho May Queen for Hawko's Bay.
