LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
Wellington, Last night,
In tbe Council to-day the business was small in amount and interest. Among the notices of motion was one by Colonel Whitmore for a return of all public works expenditure in all districts during the last ten years. BEAD A SECOND TIME. The Napier Swamp Bill, the Fisheries Preservation Bill, the Primitive Methodist Temporal Affairs Bill, the New Eiver Pilot Station Reserve, Onehungt Water Reserves, and Electors "Validation Bills were read a second time without debate.
On the local bill question several mcm« bers alluded to the slipshod manner in which the greater number of local bills were drawn. The District Courts Talidation Bill (Mr Whitaker) was read * first time. NEW BILLS. The following measures were received from the Lower House and read a firit time :—Triennial Parliaments, Wellington Harbour Board, Ghristchurch Drill-jhed, Waiupn Recreation Eeserves. The appointment of an Examiner of local bills, who should revise all measures before being submitted, was suggested. All the other business was formal, and the Council rose at 4 p.m.
