The London, Liverpool, and Globe Insurance Company Bill was read a third time and passed, and the Canterbury Church Property Bill was read a second time.
LOCAL HILLS COJI3IITTEE,
Amoug a number of reports by the Local Bills Committee was an adverse one on the Ashburton Water Bill, stating it interfered with private rights. The Bill was, therefore, referred to a second committee for further consideration.
OAMAEU WATEBWOBKS. On the motion to read the Qajjyiru Waterworks Amendment Bill tucrsecond time, some opposition was raised by several members who were averse to the borrowing clause of the measure, but Mr Whitaker having spoken in its favor, the 2nd reading was carried. Notice was then given of a special coramitteo to whom it is to be referred.
The Council adjourned at 4 o'clock.
