Tho Court only sat 40 minutes to day, the business being extremely uninteresting. NOTICE OF MOTIOIT. Amongst the notices of motion was one by the Hon. Buckley, that Government should revise the railway tariff, and so increase the charges that all lines should contribute fairly tn the colonial revenue. NEW BILLS. Hon. Mr Reynolds introduced the Otago University Amendment Bill, and the Lawreuce Athenaeum and Mining Institute Bill, which were read a first time. The Oamaru and Lytlelton Harbor Bills and the Ashburton Water Bill came from the Lower House, and read a first time.
INTERCOLONIAL*>BOBATE BILL. The Intercolonial Probate Bill was read a third time and pasted. FINANCE. Sir P. D. Bell asked why an account of the Consolidated Fund expenditure with all details were not given as in former years. Mr Whitaker said if the detailed account was made up it could -not be ready till after the session ended, and it was thought preferable to present a condensed statement while Parliament was in session. , •
Some routine business was disposed of, and tho Council rose at 3^lo.
