The correspondence laid on the table fully' justifies the recall of Foster as Agent-General, his communications being roost insolent.
Owing, to an advance in the price of copper the Lithfjow smelting works returned, and the Vale Cludd works are expected to do so too. Alluvial gold, half a pennyweight to the bucket, is reported at Marool Creek near Gr en fell, Melbourne. Ellen Tremayne, alias DeLaey Evans, is still in,the hospital. Several offers were made to her to engage her for public exhibition. There hare been heavy storms at Colao and Hay. An inquest on the body of J. T. Young, late third officer of the Afghan, killed on the railway, was held. A verdict of suicide while of unsound mind was returned. The Pleasant Creek Company, Stawell, obtained splendid prospects of gold at 1120 feet level.
