Independent Order of Oddfellows, Manchester Unity.

The quarterly district meeting of the representatives of the various lodges in the Provincial District of Auckland, was held yesterday afternoon in the Masonic Hall, Queet! street, Provincial Grand Mas lor Mahon in the Chair, D.P.G.M. Allen in the vice-chair. • *

The Acting Grand Secretary Bro. Ahier, read a return showing the amount of • receipts and expenditure for the quarter, which was as follows:—"Cash balance on June 30th, 1879, £486 17s 5d ; receipts during September quarter, £1074 7s 7d; total, £1561 6s. Expenditure: sick gifts, £289 18s sd; district levies and sundry lodge charges, £255 2s 8d ; transferred to investment account, £505 6s 10d; cask balance,.£slo 17s Id; total, £1561 5.i. Receipts, not including balance, £1074 7s 7d ; expenditure. £545 Is Id. Gain during quarter, £529 6s 6d."

A large amount of business was transacted, after which the lodge closed its sitting.

THE BANQUET. At eight o'clock a company of over 40 gentlemen sat down to a banquet at the Governor Bowen Hotel. Bro; Mahon, Provincial Grand Master, occupied the , Chair, supported on his right by Bro. McCullouuh, and on his left by Bro. Holland. The Vice-Chair wai filled by D. G. Master Bro. Allen, and the croupiers were Bros. Fleming and Cole, Past Grand Officers, The table was nictily decorated with flowers and loaded with the good things of the season, wbieh were serred in Host Symington's admirable style. Full justice was done to the viands, after which the following programme was gone through, interspersed withsongsand recitations:—Tke Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Koyal Family, His Excellency the Governor and the members of the Legislature, the Army, Wavy, and Volunteers, the Local Governing Bodies, the Grand Master and Board of Directors, the District Officers, Kindred Societies, Thames Lodges, tbe Ladies, and the Hostess and Host. A very pleasant evening was spent, the company breaking ap by midnight. ■
