AUCKLAND.
Last night. The Wftstt La&ds Board. At the Waste Landi Board Mr J. C. Firth called attention to Sir Sheebau's statements in reply to Brjce iv the Assembly which was,as follows:—"That | his (Mr Sheehan's) experience of these i Waste Lands Boards was that they invariably favored some party unduly. He bad telegraphed to Mr Sheehan as to which Land Board he referred to, and if to Auckland to ppeaify the cases that they Might be inquired into. Mr Sheefaan had not deigned to reply. After sou* remarks by Messrs Tonkt, May, Tole, and the Chairman, it was deemed unnecessary to pass a resolution vindicating the Board's conduct. ▲nothtr Sptcial Stttltami Correspondence was read also at the Board relative to the expected arrival of Messrs Grant and Foster, of Lincolnshire, with a view to introduce 600 Lincolnshire fanners to the colony. Mr Firth added that he had been informed that these farmers represented a million of money,, he wished therefore that the Chairman would communicate the wishes of the Board to the Minister of Lands that favorable facilities should be offered for settlement. There is a great increase of juvenile crime of late, and daily cases are heard in the Police Court. The new pumping mucbtntry has cleared the Bay of Islands ooal mine of water and wilt thus permit of a larger output of coal.
