In reference to yesterday's telegram stating that an engagement br.d been made between the Orient and Pacific lines whereby the two companies were to.ran steamers fortnightly between* London and Australia direct, commencing in January next; the companies beliuve that the magnitude of the trade and the increasing'; attraction of the Australian Colonies for settlers and visitors justify the extension of the enterprise. The new service will retain the name of the Orient line, 1 eon* ducted by Green and Co. and Anderson and Co., joint managers. London, October 20.
