THIS DAY. (Before H. Senrick, Esq., 1?. M.) . SUSPECTED LUNACY. Edward Scott was clisr^i d on suspicion of beini; of unsound mind. Dr Payne gave evidence to tlie effort that the man was suffering from delerium tremens, and he recommended >.i rettiand for a few days for medical treatment. Dr Eil^our ga^e corroborative testimony. He was informed by a friend of the defendant that he had been drinking ing for two weeks. Remanded for a weelr. DUUNKRNNESS. A first offender was discharged with a caution. ASSAULT. John Gordon, a small boy, was charged with unlawfully assaulting a little girl Darned Eva N odder by throwing a quantity,of sulphuric acid on her. Defendant pleaded guilty. Mr Kenny stated the ease. „ Mr Hogg,' the lad's employer, stated that the sulphuric acid must hare been taken from the brewery. Tho lad had plenty of opportunities to know the nature of sulphuric acid. There was another cose against the defendant tor a similar oifence committed on a boy named Kiuiber. His Worship commented on the gravity of theoffence.and sa.d h<iwishrd he had the ■--power to order the lad a thrashing. He ■ would be fined 10* and costs for each offence, one month being* given to pay the line. THE »f»NOYAN3 AND THE CONEOTB. " Dinny " Conroy, a boy aged about 12 years, was charged with assaulting another youth of about eight summers. named Thomas Donovan, by throwing him into the tide. The defendant pleadrd not guilty. He had not seen Donovan on the day in ques tion. Donovan's mother loquaciously described the assault on her offspring. Conroy flung her boy into the sea.* She was passing by at the time and rescued him. The small plaintiff was then mounted on a chair near the X.M.'s Bench, and gave a story materially differing from that of his mother.v He was orer there at the beach playing with the saud, and "iJinny" came and flung him in and ran away. His mother was not present. His Worship, on consideration of the evidence for the prosecution, dismissed the case. Court adjourned.
