RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT

(Before H. Kenriok, Esq., S.M.) BAVAGB DOO.
Wirope Hotereni Taipari was charged with being the owner of a dog which attacked a lad named Edward Donovan.
Mr A. Puclcey interpreted. Sergt. Mulville having stated the ease, called -
Constable Stapleton,, who deposed to summoning defendant for being the owner of a savage dog.. He made no demur. "..., <"< \,
Edward Donovan, a lad aged to about 14, deposed that last Friday week he was going out to Parawai, and when near defendant's place, three dogs rushed at him and bit him on the leg. MrJßoltoa who waa near recommended him to go to the police. A native boy namd Pannikin told hint the dog belonged to Taipari. The dog that bit aim was a white poodle. A Maori woman waa present at the time, and the laughed .at him.
By defendant—Neither of the dogs in Court bit me. '
George H. Roltoo, sworn, gave corroborative evidence. He said the native docs were a constant source ofannoyaaos. His Worship held that the ownership of the dog had not been proved, bat he recommended the plaintiff if he could prove that the dog belonged to Taipari to take a civil action against hist for damages. He informed Taipari that-the dog being unregistered was liable to be destroyed.
WAVDUINO HOBSBS. . John Farrell was fined 2s and costs for allowing two horse* to wander at large. ' Court adjourned.
