Last night
An inquest on the body of Alexander George, found ou the beach, resulted in a verdict of found drowned. The licensed victuallers have resolved to send a delegate to Wellington re the new Licensing Bill.
Roads through STativo Lands,
To-morrow representatives of the Hapus of the Ngatiraukau tribe meet at To Papa, thirty miles beyond Cambridge to discuss a proposal made by the Government to have a main trunk road continued through Ngatiraukau lands to the Hot Lakes.
Auckland Waste Lands Board.
At a meeting of the Auckland Waste Lands Board, a resolution was passed respectfully recommending to the^Government that such provisions may be inserted in the dbw Land Acfc, as may be calculated to promote tho Immigration of a suitable class of farmers to this colony from Great Britain and Ireland. The .Board also resolved to sell 2.0C9 acres of the Te Aroha Block by auction, and 2,000 acres on deferred payments.
