Mechanics' Institute.
The usual monthly meeting qf the Committee was held last night, E. W. Hollis, Esq., Yice-Preaident, in the Chair.
The minutes of tbe last meeting were read by Mr Woodward, after which the sub • commit^*; Messrs McCullough, Mennii and McGowan, who were ap pointed to take all the necessary steps to have the Institute brought tinder the Public Libraries Act, gave in their report. On the motion of Mr. McCullough a vote of thanks was passed to Mr W. Howe for lug many years' services as Trustee, and for the interest he bad always shown in. the welfare of ih« Institution.
A vote of thanks was also passed to the President, and to E. W. Hollis and J. Head, tbe rery energetic Vice-Pesulents,
for their attention to the wants of the Institute, and the able manner in which they had discharged their duties. Mr Woodward, the secretary and librarian, also received a vote of thanks, and the Vice-President was requested, in the name of the Committee, to write to Mr Woodward, enclosing the vote of thanks and acknowledging his valuable services as librarian and secretary.
The Borough Council will take over the management of the Institute as soon as tbe necessary deeds of transfer of trust are signed.
