Moanatairi Pumping Association.

After several days' preparation the whole of the IS inch lift was got below on Saturday and fixed in position without a . hitch. The work wk3 somewhat difficult, as some very heavy weights had to be shifted. For instance, the water is at present about 120 feet above No. 4 level, and as it was necessary to put the column down to No. 4,120 feet of heavy iron pipe had *to be lowered in one section and got into position. This was done successfully ,- and to-day the men are engaged making ' the connections of the rods, and to-morrow the manager expects to have the machinery in motion and the water in course of reduction. The water is just now within a foot or to of the Caledonian No 3 level.
